Involta Announces Grand Opening of World-Class Data Center in Independence, Ohio

06/06/2017

Independence, Ohio: Involta, LLC, award-winning national provider of IT intelligence and end-to-end infrastructure, announced the opening of its 25,000+ square-foot colocation facility in Independence, Ohio. This data center features: temperature and humidity controls, fully-redundant power and HVAC, and 24/7/365 critical monitoring. A ribbon-cutting and grand opening celebration, open to the business community, will be held on Thursday, June 8, 2017 at 3:00 PM.

The purpose-built, multi-tenant data center in Independence is connected to Involta’s Akron data center by a state-of-the-art fiber ring, providing one-millisecond latency between the two concurrently maintainable sites. This allows for real-time services between the two locations. With the completion of this facility, Involta will have invested more than $50 million in the state of Ohio.

Involta also provides a host of industry-leading cloud and managed services. The Independence data center will provide vital support for the Involta CompliantCloudSM services platform, which makes security, storage, regulatory compliance and physical infrastructure available to businesses at a fixed monthly cost. CompliantCloudSM services include Backup as a Service (Baas), Storage as a Service (StaaS), Disaster Recovery as a Service (DRaaS) and Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS).

“Involta has been critical to business success in Ohio for many years,” said Independence Mayor Anthony Togliatti. “Bringing Involta’s services to Cuyahoga County will spark further economic growth and prosperity. We are excited to welcome Involta to Independence.”

The city’s robust regional workforce, excellent public infrastructure and a significant investment in conduit installation made Independence an attractive and strategic data center location.

“Business partners such as Involta continue to demonstrate that Ohio is a national and international leader in the 21st century economy,” said State Representative Marlene Anielski (R-Walton Hills). “I am enthusiastic to see their impact in the Independence community and happily welcome them to northeast Ohio.”

Event speakers include Bruce Lehrman, Founder and CEO of Involta, Anthony Togliatti, Mayor of Independence, Brett Lindsey, President of Everstream, and keynote speaker Dirk Zabel, Manager of Global IT Operations at The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company. Guided data center tours will follow the ceremony.

“We are proud to continue supporting Ohio’s growing business community with the opening of the Independence facility,” said Bruce Lehrman, Involta CEO. “The city has been an excellent partner throughout the process. This is an exciting milestone for Involta, and we are excited to celebrate the grand opening in conjunction with Involta’s 10-year anniversary.”

The new Independence facility is concurrently maintainable and exceeds traditional industry standards. Electrical features include IEEE Tier IV electrical reliability design with 2N+ at the UPS distribution level and 2N Diesel Generators. To optimize cooling capabilities throughout the facility, Involta incorporated DataSox™, the innovative porous/diffuse fabric ventilation system. DataSox was developed by Involta with DuctSox®, the leading manufacturer of fabric HVAC air dispersion systems. The use of DataSox has proven to more than double operational margin because of equivalent cooling with 40% reduction in flow.

The facility also includes redundant power and HVAC; multiple path, multiple carrier fiber optic connectivity; 24/7/365 critical monitoring; and 24/7/365 secure access with biometric controls; all supported by Service Delivery, Technical Services and Data Center Operations personnel. The climate-controlled, conditioned data center space can accommodate 300 high-density cabinets of data and information technology. This new data center will offer technology infrastructure for healthcare organizations, businesses, government and educational institutions in the Independence region and beyond, with Involta’s extensive fiber connections within the state of Ohio and reaching into Pennsylvania.

Several anchor tenants have already leased space in the data center. The clients will leverage Involta’s suite of services to better serve their business needs with increased connectivity speed, improved security and IT infrastructure.

Involta’s Ohio footprint includes data centers in Akron, Columbus and two facilities in Youngstown in addition to the Independence facility. Involta now owns and operates 14 data centers across five states and is currently building its 15th world-class facility near Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, scheduled to be complete in the Fall 2017.
