Involta Data Center Receives ENERGY STAR Certification

07/18/2019

Involta is proud to announce its Technology Drive Data Center, in Duluth, Minnesota has received the ENERGY STAR certification.

ENERGY STAR is the government-backed program for certifying energy-efficient buildings. For more than 20 years, the US Environmental Protection Agency’s ENERGY STAR program has identified the most energy-efficient products, facilities, plants, and new homes – all based on the latest government-backed standards verified to perform in the top 25% of buildings nationwide. The program was created in 1992 to help businesses and individuals save energy and fight climate change. Today, every ENERGY STAR label is verified by a rigorous third-party certification process. That’s why green facility rating systems across the nation include ENERGY STAR.

“Here at Involta, our operations team is always looking for innovative ways to better our energy-efficiency and lower our impact on the environment,” said Nathan Wisehart, Manager of Involta’s Technology Drive Data Center. “Not only are we continuing to save on costs, we can proudly say we are making a difference.”

ENERGY STAR certified facilities use, on average, 35% less energy than similar facilities nationwide. The cost savings can be substantial. ENERGY STAR certified facilities cost $0.50 less per square foot to operate than their peers and meet strict requirements regarding occupant comfort.

In 2015, ENERGY STAR certified facilities and plants saved $1.7 billion, or an average of more than $250,000 per facility.
