Director of Network Infrastructure

Cedar Rapids, IA

Involta seeks a highly-skilled, knowledgeable, and motivated individual to fill the position of Director of Network Infrastructure. The individual will be responsible for technology leadership, vision and strategic planning. The Director will oversee the administration of carrier, telecommunications, networking and information technology systems, provide IT strategic planning and work with other departments to enhance business processes. Also the Director will coordinate IT training and education to support employees.

This full-time position can be located in Boise, Idaho, Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Duluth, Minnesota, or Cleveland/Akron/Youngstown, Ohio.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Remains current in technology standards and trends
  • Ensures security practices and policies are adhered too
  • Provides oversight for technology implementation, support and training
  • Provides team leadership and personnel oversight, development and evaluation to ensure service availability, business continuity, and support
  • Works closely with leadership to determine direction and effectively manages projects and associated budgets for areas of responsibility
  • Participates in the vendor relationships for technology procurements and contracts
  • Directs performance tuning and capacity planning activities to enhance the performance of the network infrastructure and services
  • Forecast technology changes impacting architecture and Involta services
  • Responsible for the reviews of system and network utilization, and availability to develop recommendations for future planning
  • Develops and maintains positive working relationships with employees, peers, vendors and clients
  • Other duties as assigned

Education and Experience

  • BA or BS Degree – Business, Computer Science, MIS or related discipline
  • 10-15+ years’ experience managing people
  • Experience designing and implementing complex networks
  • Experience managing or implementing traditional telephony and VOIP platforms
  • Experience with telecom expense management and carrier management
  • Specific knowledge of Cisco’s networking and Data Center solutions strongly preferred
  • Experience working in a managed-services environment a plus

Technical Knowledge

  • Expert knowledge of networking concepts, WAN, LAN, DWDM and wireless topologies, IP networking, and other network protocols
  • Strong working knowledge of Cisco network, voice and unified communications technologies
  • Strong working knowledge of security and related best practices
  • Industry knowledge in emerging technology and trends
  • Working knowledge of Palo Alto, Juniper, Radware, and Fortinet technologies preferred
  • Working knowledge of ITIL framework required, certifications a plus
  • Technical vendor interface experience a plus
