Sales Engineer

Boise, ID

Involta is currently seeking a talented and energetic Sales Engineer to support the sales efforts for the regional sales team.  The Sales Engineer will work as a member of the sales team to provide technical knowledge and support to the sales process, influence client solutions and position Involta services that meet or exceed client expectations. In this role you will work with the regional sales and operation teams to supplement their expertise in data center, cloud and managed services offerings, in order to gain technical acceptance from the client and drive sales revenue.  This position will be measured by its success in contributing to the sales objectives and business goals for the region.

This is a full-time position, located in Boise, Idaho.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Serve as pre-sales engineer for Involta’s Data Center regional business 
  • Lead technical sessions with clients to discover requirements and develop solutions
  • Prepare project proposals including Bill of Materials, Professional Services and Statement of Work
  • Maintain profitability of projects to meet Involta regional business goals and budget
  • Collaborate with Involta operations to provide and price service requirements for projects, proposals, professional services, managed services or data center offerings
  • Prepare the technical response to Request for Quote and Request for Information
  • Articulate and present Involta solutions to clients
  • Recognize new business opportunities in an account
  • Help sales team to generate and maintain a revenue pipeline
  • Aid in development of strategic account plans in partnership with the sales team
  • Support tours of Involta data centers
  • Support Involta trade show activities
  • Maintain and develop relationships with key Involta partners within a region

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT Technical degree or equivalent experience
  • Experience gathering customer requirements, white boarding/presenting solutions, developing a Bill of Materials (BOM) and preparing Statements of Work (SOWs)
  • IT Services, Datacenter and/or Telecommunications industry experience and knowledge
  • Knowledge of electricity and cooling concepts in data centers
  • Experience specifying, designing or implementing IT network solutions
  • Experience specifying, designing or implementing wide area network solutions
  • Experience specifying, designing or implementing server, data storage and backup solutions
  • Skill in analyzing and solving problems, establishing priorities, organizing resources, and making evaluative judgments
  • Proficient with Microsoft tools - Excel, Word, Power Point and VISIO
  • Strong interpersonal, communication skills, and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of personality types
  • Excellent presentation skills
  • Ability to relate to a wide range of technical staff, managers and CxO level in client environments
  • Previous data center, pre-sales Systems Engineering or Sales experience a plus

Travel Requirements

  • This position may require travel throughout an assigned region, and may call for travel with little advance notice
  • Travel outside the region is expected to be around 10 to 20%
