Storage & Backup Administrator

Youngstown, OH

Involta is looking to add an experienced full-time Storage & Backup Administrator to its team.  A Storage and Backup Administrator is responsible to deliver and support both customer and internal projects; performing project implementation through to support.  Additionally, Storage and Backup Administrators enforce good practices and standards within the team.  Administrators provide investigation, diagnostic testing and repair/resolution of system, hardware, software and infrastructure components related to storage and backup solutions.

This position can be located at any of our world-class data centers (Boise, ID, Duluth, MN, Tucson, AZ, Cedar Rapids, IA, Cleveland/Akron/Youngstown, OH, Freeport, PA).

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Installs, configures and maintains backup devices, applications, and related systems
  • May, to a lesser extent, install, configure and maintain storage hardware
  • Continually reviews, develops and implements processes and procedures that meet security and compliance standards
  • Monitors storage and backup environment health and is a point of escalation for issues
  • Perform troubleshooting and incident and problem management in accordance with defined service level agreements/objectives
  • Recommends and implements hardware, software applications, upgrades and patches
  • Point of contact to the Systems team
  • Provides technical support and guidance to users for storage and backup systems
  • Represent team in projects, provides subject-matter expertise on storage related matters
  • Collaborate with team members as part of a project or functional support service
  • Develop automation tasks to improve operational efficiencies
  • Other duties as assigned based on organizational or customer needs

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Management/Computer Information Systems
  • 3-5 years of dedicated storage and backup-related experience
  • Extensive Veeam Backup and Recovery platform experience
  • Experience in configuring, deploying and managing Veeam
  • Zerto replication experience
  • Strong analytical and problem analysis skills and experience
  • EMC SAN platform experience is preferable
  • NexSan platform experience is preferable

Technical Knowledge

  • Strong understanding of virtual machine Backup and Recovery concepts
  • Strong understanding of agent based Backup and Recovery concepts
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Windows Server and VMware vSphere ESXi
  • Strong background with Microsoft Office Products
  • Strong background with Windows Server Operating Systems
  • Understanding of SAN management concepts is preferable
  • Familiarity with the EMC AVAMAR enterprise backup solutions is preferable
  • Knowledge of Linux variants is desired

Working Conditions

  • Conforms with and abides by all regulations, policies, work procedures, instruction, and all health and safety rules
  • Be available during core working hours
  • Will be part of an on-call rotation - 7 x 24 support
  • Occasional night and weekend work
  • The ability to install heavy equipment

Travel Requirements

  • Occasional travel
