Involta Announces New Data Center Build in Ohio

05/31/2016

Akron, OH - Involta announced plans today for continued investment in the State of Ohio. An Anchor tenant has selected Involta to build, own and operate a new multi-tenant data center in Independence, OH. To fulfill customer demand, Involta will build this new high-security, concurrently maintainable data center to house mission-critical computer systems and related services. The new facility will serve Involta clients in Akron, Cleveland, Pittsburgh and surrounding markets.

“By leveraging colocation and end-to-end managed service offerings, organizations gain flexibility, scalability and security, allowing them the ability to focus on priorities that differentiate their businesses,” said Bruce Lehrman, Involta founder and CEO.

The new Independence facility will consist of conditioned data center space, additional storage space, mechanical and electrical infrastructure and additional office space for client and business continuity use. A fiber ring will connect the Akron datacenter to the Independence facility to allow clients to keep redundant production systems in a hot – hot configuration. The network solution has been designed to allow near real time replication with sub millisecond connectivity.

In June 2015, Involta announced the acquisition of the assets of Data Recovery Services, LLC (DRS) in Youngstown, OH. Involta assets now include thirteen data center facilities, over 5,500 fiber miles and nearly 200 employees, the majority of whom reside in Ohio. In March 2016, Involta announced the expansion of the Akron data center. “The Ohio market continues to be an area of significant growth for our company,” stated Lehrman. “Both our clientele and our workforce continue to grow to meet the needs of the information technology economy.

Involta’s Ohio footprint now includes data centers in Akron, Columbus and two facilities in Youngstown. Upon completion of the latest expansion, Involta’s capital investment in northeast Ohio alone will total nearly $55 million. A celebration of the Cleveland expansion is being scheduled for a day to be determined in June.
