Involta Breaks Ground on New Data Center

The groundbreaking ceremony featured remarks by C.L. "Butch" Otter, Governor of Idaho; Brandon Woolf, State of Idaho Controller; Rick Yzaguirre, Ada County Commissioner, David Bieter, Mayor of Boise; Jay Larsen, President of Idaho Technology Council and Dr. Marc Chasin, System Vice President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO), and Jeff Thornsteinson.

"It is an exciting time for our Company," stated Bruce Lehrman, Involta CEO. "We are pleased to be a part of Idaho's thriving and innovative tech industry and appreciate the support of the public and private sector partners that have helped Involta build the business case for a second data center facility in the Boise Valley," continued Lehrman. Partners that are recognized at the groundbreaking included the Idaho Department of Commerce, the Board of Ada County Commisioners, the Idaho Technology Council and the Boise Valley Economic Partnership (BVEP).

The $11.5 million 34,000 square-foot data center in Boise will be a highly secure, concurrently maintainable multi-tenant facility. It is the Company's second Boise facility and eighth data storage center to date. Involta has additional facilities in Ohio, Minnesota, Iowa and Arizona.

The Boise data center, expected to be operational by the end of 2014, will house 300 cabinets of mission critical data and information technology (IT) infrastructure for healthcare organizations, businesses, government and educational institutions. Multiple anchor tenants have already leased space in the facility, including St. Luke’s Health System.

“Technology has become a critical component in providing care to our patients,” commented Dr. Marc Chasin, St. Luke’s Health System Vice President and CIO. “The partnership with Involta allows St. Luke’s IT employees the ability to focus on delivering the systems to provide that care, and brings additional technology infrastructure to the regional community,” continued Chasin.

The facility is purpose-built and exceeds industry standards. Features include controlled temperature and humidity; redundant power, HVAC, power, and fiber optic connectivity; 24/7/365 critical monitoring; and 24/7/365 secure access with biometric security. Involta has also designed the facility to LEED standards.The first phase of construction will feature 10,000 square feet of conditioned data center space. Involta plans include a second phase of construction, adding capacity for an additional 300 cabinets. The total investment for both phases of the project is approximately $25 million.

In the seven years since its founding, Involta has garnered a substantial list of accolades. Notable recognition for Involta during 2013 inculded Lehrman's seletion as a finalist for Ernst & Young Entrepreneur Of The Year and the Company Ranked eigth on the Corridor Business Journal's Power Book List of Fastest Growing Companies. In 2010 Involta also ranked #40 on the 2010 Inc. 500 list of fastest growing companies in the United States.

Involta's growth in 2013 has been bolstered by increased capabilities and capacity in managed services with the Involta Compliant Cloud, its recently launched cloud services platform, comprising infrastructure, storage, network and backup and recovery services housed in its world-class data center facilities.
