In fact, when it comes to cities with the most significant technology growth potential, Cleveland ranks #6 out of 102 cities across America, according to the Technology Hub Index (THIS).
Hotbed for Healthtech Innovation
As a top market for mission-critical industries, Cleveland has quickly become a hotspot for startups and healthtech enterprises. With several major hospitals and medical research facilities located in the area, such as the Cleveland Clinic and the UH Cleveland Medical Center, the city is gaining traction as the place to be for healthcare innovation, attracting world-class researchers, entrepreneurs and investors. Many healthcare and biomedical companies are setting up shop in Cleveland and the greater Ohio area to explore groundbreaking developments in the treatment of hundreds of diseases, including heart disease, cancer and pediatric conditions.
Quality of Life and Affordability Draw Top Tech Talent
Beyond the appeal of being a hotspot for tech investments and startups, Cleveland serves as an attractive destination for talent and tech companies, offering an affordable cost of living, high quality of life, low operating costs for businesses and close proximity to Columbus, the Silicon Valley of the Midwest.
With housing costs significantly more affordable than the U.S. average, more than 58,000 tech professionals call Cleveland home. Nestled on the banks of Lake Erie and just a few hours away from Columbus, the city provides countless tech opportunities, cultural attractions and outdoor activities for residents and visitors.
What’s more, the Northeast Ohio area graduates over 1,600 qualified tech professionals each year and is becoming a key location for conferences and events, drawing in trailblazing technology professionals looking to propel innovation forward. Last October, the city transformed into the Land of Trailblazing Tech, hosting six major tech industry events with more than 10,000 tech professionals from across the world.
