Serving Greater Cleveland, The Involta Independence Data Center
Construction on Involta’s Independence, Ohio data center is now complete and the facility is open and fully operational. The construction team’s dedication and focus, combined with mild weather, all helped to keep the project on track for the April open date.
Involta’s newest datacenter, features IEEE Tier IV electrical reliability with 2N+ at the UPS distribution level and 2N Diesel Generators. The use of DataSox has proven, by test, to more than DOUBLE operational margin because of equivalent cooling with 40% reduction in flow. The facility is networked with another Involta facility, in Akron, Ohio, over 30 miles away. Despite the distance, the WAN arrangement is designed for 1 millisecond round trip transfers of data, making the two facilities “right next door”. The electrical, cooling and network innovations introduce a level of production resiliency unmatched in the multi-tenant data center industry.
Lucas Mistelske, Involta’s Director of Data Center Operations, shared some insight into the work that it takes to build a world-class enterprise facility from the ground up.
- 42 different companies put over 250,000 man hours into the construction of the data center. Proudly, over 60% were from the state of Ohio.
- The facility contains approximately 15 miles of copper wire and cable with over 2500 tons of concrete and steel.
Below are some photos from last week’s final preparations.
Involta will be hosting a formal grand opening celebration on June 8, 2017 at the data center where attendees will be able to tour the facility in person.
