In today’s world, technology is ever evolving and as a company, we are too. Furthermore, when it comes to our team, we stand strong by our brand promise to DRIVE results for our customers. That’s why we’re excited to launch the Involta Spotlight.

Each month we feature several Involta team members from a personal and professional standpoint. Our illuminating interviews will capture the essence of what drives our team to deliver both at home and on the job. Our clients will get an inside look into who we are and learn more about our exceptional team members who are here to help our clients through their IT transformation journey. It’s our goal to help them “Get There” through trusting, communicative and collaborative relationships.

Meet Michelle Moran, Vice President of Sales, Eastern Region

Michelle joined Involta in 2015 with an extensive background in management and technology. She has been in IT sales for more than 30 years and at the forefront of the technology industry’s evolution, leading teams that have successfully deployed new technologies and cutting-edge IT solutions and opened data centers. As the VP of Sales, East Region for Involta, Michelle is responsible for the sales and support of both client relationships and eight of Involta’s data centers.

What behavior or personality trait do you most attribute your success to and why?

That’s easy – flexibility without sacrificing standards. Over the years, I’ve learned that it’s necessary to be flexible with every action I take. If I wasn’t flexible, it would be almost impossible to survive in the technology industry because it changes every day.

What led you to this career?

During college, I was offered an amazing opportunity that started my career. I was immediately recruited into a technology role, selling telecom services while finishing up my college degree. It was an amazing experience because it allowed me to gain insight into the business world before fully entering it. I stayed in that role for 18 years and was able to work my way up the ladder, experiencing 16 years of management along with five acquisitions and two initial public offerings. It was a great training process for me. From there I took various roles with multiple technology companies, which ultimately led me to Involta with an extensive portfolio of past experiences that helped me get to where I am today.

What’s the one thing that has surprised you about working at Involta?

Over the course of my five years at Involta, I’ve been pleasantly surprised by how creative and committed we are to fit our clients’ needs. This dedicated culture starts at the top – from the executives down through the entire employee base. As we evolve, we continue to maintain that perspective along our journey.

What is your favorite hobby?

My favorite hobby is glass blowing with my husband. We became empty nesters around five years ago and shortly after we decided that we needed to pick up a hobby. We have a great instructor at the art academy near our home. Normally, he lets us do whatever we want, but let me tell you, sometimes doing whatever we want can be scary!

What’s the one thing most people don’t know about you?

Most people don’t know that I joined the swim team my senior year of high school. One day, my best friend approached me and asked me if I would learn how to dive. Because I’m adventurous, I accepted and that was that! I learned all of the required dives so I could represent my high school team at all of our swim meets. It took most of the season for me to earn points, but we had an exceptional swim team. By the end of the season, we won districts by one point and I can proudly say that I earned that one point for the team in my diving routine. That was the strategy and we did it!

What’s the best advice you were given and who gave it to you?

The best advice that was given to me was from my father. Growing up, he always told me, “Don’t ever give up, you can do anything.”

A big thank you to Michelle for completing this Involta Spotlight interview. We enjoyed learning more about you and I’m sure our clients will too.
